The University of 易胜博官网 School of Law recently announced the creation of an annual scholarship in honor of Daniel Webster Distinguished Professor of Law Calvin Massey, who passed away last fall after a battle with cancer.
A gift from Martha Massey, his wife, allowed 易胜博官网 Law to establish the annual $2,000 scholarship for the most outstanding student in constitutional law. The first recipient is Nathan Kenison-Marvin.
鈥淭his is an exceptionally generous and fitting tribute to Calvin鈥檚 memory, and we鈥檙e deeply grateful to Martha for her determination to carry forward Calvin鈥檚 deep commitment to the students of 易胜博官网 Law,鈥 notes Jordan Budd, interim dean of 易胜博官网 Law.
易胜博官网 Law and UC Hastings College of Law teamed up in September to host a celebration of Massey鈥檚 life. The event was organized by 易胜博官网 Law professors Alexandra Roberts and John Greabe and featured remarks from Budd and reflections from several law scholars who recalled Massey as a colleague and mentor and discussed his academic work.
鈥淚t was a treat to gather together so many people on whose academic and personal lives Calvin had left an indelible mark,鈥 Roberts says.
鈥淚 was pleased and honored to participate in what proved to be a truly wonderful celebration,鈥 Greabe adds. 鈥淭he fact that so many renowned scholars and dear friends traveled from so far to reflect on Calvin and his legacy speaks volumes about his tremendous impact on so many lives.鈥
