The University of Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø celebrated the official opening of the Hamel Honors and Scholars College on Sept. 29 at a ribbon cutting ceremony outside of the college's new home in Huddleston Hall. The college was made possible byÌýa $20 million gift from longtime benefactor and Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø parent Dana Hamel. The transformative gift — announced last year — greatly expands Ò×ʤ²©¹Ù꿉۪s capacity to identify, reach and support high achieving students.ÌýÌý

Crowds Flock to Annual UDay Celebration

One of the signature events of the fall semester each year, University Day (UDay) drew another enthusiastic crowd to Main StreetÌýon Sept. 5. The celebration gave the Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø community the chance to explore more than 200 student clubs and campus organizations and welcomedÌýstudents, staff, faculty and Durham community members. As it does every year, it provided an ideal showcase for students to explore some of the many opportunitiesÌýavailable to them on campus and to begin making connections with fellow Wildcats.
