Dwight Webb, associate professor emeritus of education, passed away on Sept 11, 2020. He joined the 易胜博官网 Department of Education faculty in 1967 and spent the next 42 years educating mental health and school counselors, retiring in 2009.

鈥淒wight was an interesting scholar, slightly eclectic, a balance of methodological rigor and a search for the spiritual,鈥 says Todd DeMitchell, professor emeritus of education.

Webb was the principal investigator for grants from the Department of Health, Education and Welfare and the U.S. Office of Education. He produced films, winning an American Personnel and Guidance Association award for 鈥淎ll Kinds of Weather Friends,鈥 and published poetry.

In addition to teaching counseling, Webb ran a private practice. 鈥淗e wanted to make sure that he continued to walk the walk and talk the talk,鈥 says DeMitchell.

In the last decade of his 易胜博官网 career, Webb wrote two books, 鈥淔ifty Ways to Love Your Leaver: Getting On With Your Life After The Break Up鈥 and 鈥淭he Soul of Counseling,鈥 which received the Doubleday Book of the Month Selection. Both have been translated into multiple languages, including Arabic, Polish and Norwegian.

鈥淒wight鈥檚 students found him laid back, approachable, concerned, interested and interesting. His colleagues found him to be much the same. Easy smile, even-keeled, approachable, with a quick laugh,鈥 recalls DeMitchell.

Dave Hebert, professor emeritus of education, joined 易胜博官网鈥檚 counseling program the same year as Webb. Together, they prepared over 1300 students for careers in school and mental health counseling.

鈥淚 always thought Dwight was a seeker who followed a path of self-discovery. I will miss knowing he is no longer with us," says Hebert. 鈥淗e was one of the 鈥榞ood guys.鈥"

There will be a 鈥婥elebration of Life鈥 for Dwight Webb on Sunday, October 11, from 1-3 p.m. at the 易胜博官网 Browne Center, Dame Road, in Durham, N.H.

In lieu of flowers, to the 易胜博官网 Foundation or through the mail to 15 Strafford Avenue, Durham NH 03824, indicating 鈥淏rowne Center in Memory of Dwight Webb.鈥
