Sexual Misconduct Reporting at Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø Flowchart
Reporting Sexual Misconduct: What are the options?
A student who has experienced sexual harassment or sexual violence is not required, but encouraged, to report the incident. Students who know about, or suspect, sexual harassment or sexual violence has occurred against another student are not required to report these incidents unless they are designated as a mandatory reporter.
Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø has a comprehensive system to assist students who choose to report sexual violence. Those who wish to make a report have a few different options. Complaints can be filed directly with the Title IX Coordinator and/or the Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø Police. They may also report to a mandatory reporter, submit a report (including anonymous reports) through the or speak with Privileged Confidential Support Services.

In addition to the above, information can be sent directly to the Title IX Coordinator by submitting the information via the (IRF)or by sharing information with a mandatory reporter. Additionally, reports made directly to the Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø Police regarding sexual violence will prompt the agency to make an automatic report to the Title IX Coordinator.
Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø is required by law to take action once a report of sexual harassment or sexual violence has been received. If the impacted party does not want an investigation or disciplinary action to take place, or otherwise wishes their identity remain private, that request will be carefully considered. However, honoring such a request may limit Ò×ʤ²©¹Ù꿉۪s ability to respond fully to the incident and, in some cases, Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø may override the request for privacy and engage in the grievance process to maintain a safe community.
Directly reporting incidents to the Civil Rights & Equity Office/Title IX Coordinator or Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍøPD allows for the fastest response by the University. If there is an emergency, please call 911.
Option 2: Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø Mandatory Reporters
A mandatory reporter refers to certain individuals at Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø who are required to report any information they receive indicating that a student has been subjected to sexual harassment or sexual violence to the Title IX Coordinator. When mandatory reporters share information with the Title IX Coordinator, this prompts the University to take responsive action consistent with its sexual violence policy and procedures. Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø mandatory reporters include: Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø Staff, Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø Faculty, Coaches, Community Assistants (CA’s), Resident Assistants (RA’s), Teaching Assistants (TA’s), Research Assistants, Learning Assistants, Graduate and Undergraduate Student Senate Executive Leaders (when conducting work for the Student Senate), Youth Camp Counselors working with minors, Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø Manchester Peer Leaders and Peer Advisors, Student Campus Safety Officers working for Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø PD.
For example, if a student writes about an incident of sexual violence in a paper or emails a professor and indicates they cannot attend class due to a sexual violence incident, the professor is required to report that information to the Title IX Coordinator. Similarly, if a student shares with their Resident Assistant they were sexually assaulted over the weekend, regardless of whether that assault occurred here, at another university, or at home, the Resident Assistant is required to report that information to the Title IX Coordinator. The Title IX Coordinator or Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍøPD will then reach out in accordance with university policy to address the matter further.
Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø mandatory reporters do not include the privileged confidential support services listed below.
Option 3: Making an Anonymous Report
Those who wish to file an anonymous report of sexual violence or sexual harassment about themselves or others may do so in any one of the following ways:
- The online sends a report directly to the Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø Title IX Coordinator (not monitored 24/7).
- The LiveSafe App (contacts Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø police directly).
- Contact Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø Privileged Confidential Support Resources (details and contact information below).
Reporting sexual violence anonymously may limit Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø's ability to respond fully and effectively to sexual violence complaints, but it is an available option. Anonymous reporting is only available to Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø students who are not mandatory reporters. Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø mandatory reporters must report directly to the Title IX Coordinator.
Option 4: Privileged Confidential Support Services
While we encourage students and others to report sexual violence incidents so that we can keep you, and the campus as a whole, safe, we understand the difficulties that such processes can entail. Therefore, Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø offers medical, counseling and general advice about options through our Privileged Confidential Support Services. These services include The SHARPP Center, Health & Wellness, Psychological Counseling Services, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and professional staff in the The Aulbani J. Beauregard Center for Equity, Justice, and Freedom. Discussions with these offices will not trigger a police investigation, Ò×ʤ²©¹ÙÍø investigation or student conduct proceeding unless the impacted person requests it. Students can also start with privileged confidential support services and then, if they change their mind, they can file a report at a later time or ask that provider to help them file a report.
