When a nominee for this award gains the unanimous support of a department鈥檚 faculty, and also draws praises from a diverse chorus of faculty, students and staff across campus, it makes the selection process fairly easy.
Today, we are proud to honor one such colleague: Eileen Wong. In summing up Eileen鈥檚 remarkable contributions, one nominator called her 鈥渢he most important person鈥 in the Art and Art History Department. This nominator added that Eileen 鈥渋s essential to the department functioning smoothly and in helping students and faculty alike with their every need.鈥 That is high praise indeed, and it is well deserved.
During her 34 years with the department, Eileen has become central to all communications between the department, faculty, students and administration. She also manages the department鈥檚 budgets, trains PAT, OS and faculty in key functions, and orders all the machinery and supplies 鈥 and that鈥檚 no easy task in such a diverse and creative department.
If you visit her office, you will likely see a steady stream of students and faculty coming to her with every conceivable question. Eileen also handles the department鈥檚 website, promotions and events; and she serves as the priority liaison with university administration, where her insights and wise guidance are much appreciated.
In addition to being known as one of 易胜博官网鈥檚 most effective administrators, Eileen is also widely considered as one of the kindest and friendliest to work with.

All members of the university community, including leadership, supervisors & managers, peers, colleagues and students may nominate any qualified staff member by completing the Presidential Award of Excellence nomination form online or by requesting a paper application from Human Resources and forwarding it to the Presidential Award of Excellence Peer Review Committee, c/o Human Resources, Nesmith Hall each year by the deadline.
